Popsicle # 28 Salted Caramel

(make salted caramel sauce, make pudding with milk, corn starch, sugar and vanilla, blend in caramel sauce at the end)

Mixing in the caramel

Since I had company, it was time to be impressive.  This one got an “Oh, Arin!” reaction from one of it’s eaters, which is something I always like to hear in any context.  Good consistency, not too icy and fun complex favors with the sugar/salt/caramel combo.  I made the pudding using the slow method of heating it over boiling water.  It took a long time but I think may have been worth it in the end.

Jane and Lucia ate these ones.  The housemates, Lizzie and Lindsay, got them for dessert after house dinner of shaved asparagus pizza with eggs on top.  It has been a fancy week.  Lindsay also discovered that the rocket pop mold stick is longer than the star pop mold, thus ultimately leading to the “does size matter?” conversation. (Answer: yes)

Lizzie!

A Staple

Popsicle # 27 Chocolate Banana

(defrost frozen bananas, blend with cocoa powder, maple syrup and a small bit of yogurt)

This one is a staple.  Reliably delicious every time.  And the rocket mold is back in action.

Traveling Pops

My popsicle molds made it into my carry-on a few weeks ago for my trip to Vieques, Puerto Rico.  I was excited about warm weather and tropical fruit.  Pineapple cilantro, mango cream and cappuccino pops were made.  They weren’t the best but it was exciting to have popsicles in a tropical location.
